Bek, celebrating 48 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project

Bek and I spent some time on Kildare Road, (quite a bit of time considering my car decided not to start), then we returned to Tenterfield via her beautiful B&B Tilly and the returned to the studio. It was a lovely morning, even with my misbehaving car!

Bek was gifted her place in the Your Face, Your Story Project by her beautiful friend Michelle which I thought was a beautiful example of women supporting women which is another thing the Your Face, Your Story Project is celebrating.

One of the questions I asked every woman in the project was why they wanted to be involved, this was Bek’s beautiful response. “This was gifted to me from a friend. I never really thought I was interesting enough to be a part of this yet when I was recovering from the removal of an aggressive and life-threatening BCC which left my face disfigured), I realised I had a story. I want to inspire women to love themselves scars and all and embrace their story, To be empowered by it not ashamed of it. I want to be a part of a group of women who love and admire themselves and are loud and proud about the gift of ageing however that may look. We need to celebrate beauty for what it really is, and its far more than skin deep.”

I also loved finding out what the project meant to Bek, “Getting out of my comfort zone! Speaking out and leveraging a supportive creative platform to encourage women to be proud, to stand tall in their light. Women have so much to be celebrated for and this is a wonderful environment to do just that.”

The inaugural Your Face, Your Story Project ends this week with the 2024 project exhibition. This will be open to the public on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project celebrating the lives of 40 women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing.

Registrations of interest are now open for the 2025 Project. The 2025 project will open to those who have pre-registered on the 17th February and to the general public on the 3rd March 2025. For information head to: https://www.mynotesfrom.com/yourfaceyourstory
