Brenda, celebrating 63 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project

Brenda was another fabulous female who travelled from the East Coast for the project. We first met on zoom and a few challenges meant that Brenda was one of the last shoots of the project and it was very special.

My Rosie was very impressed that Brenda brought her cello Rosie to the shoot.

I asked every woman how they felt about their age, and I loved Brenda’s answer, “How do you feel about your age?    I have mixed emotions.  As for most of us, life has not always been kind and particularly not to those of us born a female.  To me, the future is now about healing from my past, finding a way forward, continuing to learn every single day and maybe sharing some wisdom that I’ve acquired along the way.  It’s about making the most of the time I have left on this earth, cherishing time with family and loved ones and doing my bit to somehow leave the world a better place for those I’ll one day leave behind.  So back to the question of how I feel about my age – full of possibility.”

To be full of possibility is a magical place to be.

I asked Brenda what she would say to herself if she could go back in time and talk to your younger self and she replied, “That you are worthy. That you are enough. To be bold and brave enough to travel a different path and live the life that you dream of, rather than living up to the expectations/demands of others.  Don’t become a chronic people pleaser.  And when it comes down to it, you’ll be ok.

These messages to their younger selves continue to be such beautiful life lessons.

The Your Face, Your Story exhibition will culminate with an exhibition next week which will be open to the public on Saturday 8th February from 9am to 1pm. The Your Face, Your Story Project is a project celebrating the lives of 40 women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing.

Registrations of interest are now open for the 2025 Project. The project will open to those who have registered their interest on the 17th February and to the general public on the 3rd March 2025. For information head to: https://www.mynotesfrom.com/yourfaceyourstory
