Conversations with Oday
I hadn't heard from Oday since Thursday and was obsessing as I hate asking if he is ok. Eventually, I just sent him a message to check in and obviously asked him if he was ok. He said sorry because he had been in a bad mood due to the loss of his relatives this week.
If I were Oday, I would be incandescent with rage, but I am not Oday. I have no idea what he is going through and I am just try to absorb his lessons about humanity.
The attack he is mentioned is the Sand Massacre. There have been so many massacres over the last 11 months they need names. It is thought that the US-made MK-84 bombs were used against an encampment of displaced families in canvas tents. The MK-84 is a 2,000lb bomb. The US briefly suspended MK-84 supplies in May, worried that be used to assault southern Gaza’s Rafah. Regardless, Rafah was invaded in May. The US then resumed supplies.
Oday is my young Palestinian friend, and I am trying to help him keep his family alive. Any donation makes a difference, no matter how small. I met @oday_aburaida through @projectlovebrocade, a worldwide initiative amplifying the voices of the people of Palestine. Any money raised assists Oday's family with the basics that in Gaza mean the difference between life and death. Shelter. Food. Water. Medicine.
There are many ways you can help Oday:The best way is to donate directly to his GoFundMe Account:
I have an ebook version of a small poetry collection called Poems of Palestine:
I am selling Flower Inspiration Cards:
You can follow Oday's relief project on Instagram: @gap_gaza
You can donate directly to this relief project
I am also in touch with Oday's beautiful sister Ameera whose Instagram page is @ameeraida995 and whose fundraising link is https://spot.fund/m734llsc
Any funds raised for Oday go to help his entire family, Ameera included but I want to include her so she knows she is not alone.
Thank you,
xxxLara
