Conversations with Oday
One of the reasons that Oday and I connected was because of our love of photography. But Oday had to leave his studies and does not have the luxury of a camera, or the time to develop a hobby into a passion while he focuses on keeping his family alive. Oday was first my friend and now he is my family. Another reason we have become close is because we love words. I am in awe of Oday’s words. His incredible words. Maybe one day he will change the world. The dignity, the poetry, the beauty – all out of an unimaginably cruel world. I am in awe of his words, and it is an honour to share his story.
The image is by the Palestinian photographer Momen Sameer whom I admire immensely – please follow his page Instagram @momen_sameer
