Archie and Rissie had their last OJT (odd job twins) job this morning and I caught up on some work. We are all ready to head off in Tiney-Boppa, our vintage Viscount van for a much-needed break. Tiney-Boppa is set up so we don’t have much to pack apart from some food, clothes, and a few personal things. We each have a basket for our clothes and there is a basket for the kitchen, the bathroom and for food. We throw anything frozen into the esky and we are set to go. I am taking Archie and Rissie to Corindi Beach where I went for Christmas. I can’t wait for a few lazy days and to show the kids this lovely place that I fell in love with.

Love people use things: because the opposite never works

A 360-days musing......

I painted another wall this afternoon. I am slowly making my way through the lounge room before I tackle my bedroom. Then the home renovation project will be over for another decade! I never thought I would ever be interested in doing anything around the cottage but after seeing the transformation of the kid’s rooms, I fell in love with the illusion of more space. I keep visiting my new little white hallway and it is lovely.

While I was painting, I put on ‘The Minimalists’ followed by their new documentary, ‘Less is More”. I enjoyed re-listening and pretending that Josh and Ryan are in my secret best friend society. As I complete my first fortnight of this challenge, it is lovely to be reminded of why I am doing this. One thing that really stuck in my head is the phrase, “love things use people: because the opposite never works”.

It really made me think. How simple and how common sense is that philosophy but how many of us in fact love things far more than we love people? If we could all love people a little more and things a little less, I think the world would be a much kinder place.
