I am haunted on the edges

I am haunted on the edges,
in my early morning dreams,
those hazy, lazy moments
when things are not quite what they seem.
I am haunted on the edges,
when the world is yet to wake.
A dawn sky that heralds a rising sun,
a world so beautiful my heart does ache.
I am haunted on the edges,
when a favourite song is soon to end.
A final note, the sound of silence,
is when I think of my dearest friend.
I am haunted on the edges,
when I look at my darling two.
Their smiles, their joy, their kindest hearts,
I wish I could share with you.
I am haunted on the edges,
when I gaze up at a starry sky,
the world is quiet, and oh so still,
I wish upon a star that I could fly.
I am haunted on the edges,
of my lovely life, I know that to be true,
I am so blessed, but on the edges,
I would love just one more day or two.
