Rhonda, celebrating 49 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project.
Rhonda’s next birthday is the big five-oh birthday and she has set herself a few goals to tick off before she reaches that milestone which is fabulous. Increasing her confidence and embracing change for herself and her children is one of those goals, thus Rhonda’s involvement in the Your Face, Your Story Project.
I asked Rhonda what the Your Face, Your Story Project meant to her and her response meant so much to me. One of the things I still look for whenever my yearning for Tiney is strong is photographs of the two of us. I still wish that we had thought to regularly organise photo shoots to commemorate the big and little moments. That yearning was also one of the things that is the driving force behind my daily photography project #1157 days. When I am old and grey or no longer here, I never want my kids to have to say, why didn’t mum put herself in the frame. I want them to always be able to find me.
Rhonda’s response to what the project means to her:
“I lost my amazing dad last year and one of the first things I did was search for ever photo I had of him and with him. I tend to hide from the camera lately so I need to build up my confidence and get more photos taken, especially for my kids.”
And as Rhonda and I discussed, she also needs to have more photos taken of herself, for her, just for her.
We have some special things planned for Rhonda’s shoot later in the year and I can’t wait.
The Your Face, Your Story Project is all about celebrating the lives of women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing. The project is now fully booked for 2024 and I look forward to sharing the beautiful faces and wonderful stories of 40 women over 40 in the coming months.
