To resist

To resist

To resist.

Some weeks I have no words, but as I tell myself constantly, in my privileged world it is not my place to feel despair. And if the least I can do is speak up, and to refuse to believe the lies and subterfuge, then that is something. That I will resist for the rest of my life.

To resist

When there is darkness,

to light a candle is to resist.

Resist.

When there is cruelty,

to be kind is to resist.

Resist.

When there is silence

to speak up is to resist.

Resist.

When there is despair,

to feel joy is to resist.

Resist.

When all seems hopeless,

to hope is to resist.

Resist, resist, resist.
