We will watch on our phones

We will watch on our phones

We will watch on our phones

The genocide in Gaza is the most well-documented genocide in all of history but also the most denied. It defies belief. What also amazes me is that we can choose to watch, we can choose to switch off, we can choose to look after our mental health, we can choose to watch something else.

I don’t understand when humanity became a choice. I also don’t understand how people can forget that one day we will all be on the receiving end.

We will watch on our phones

We will watch on our phones

live-streamed genocide

flood, fire and quakes

we will watch on our phones

not realising that

every day is one day closer

to others watching us

on their phones

and by then

we can only hope

that they will do more

than just watch.

We will watch on our phones.

Tenterfield, NSW, Australia

I would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of Tenterfield, the place where I call home, the Kamilaroi, Jukembal, and Ngarabal people.

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and recognise the continuing connection to lands, waters, and communities.

I pay my respects to Elders past and present.
