Shannon, celebrating 52 fabulous years with the Your Face, Your Story Project.
I caught up with Shannon via zoom yesterday for her project Discovery meeting and to discuss her shoot. Shannon will be travelling from Brisbane for her shoot and making a weekend of it in Tenterfield with her daughters. A special mother/daughter weekend in the ‘field with a special photo shoot!
A common thread with all of the incredible women who are doing this project is that appreciation of the wisdom that comes with age. The wisdom to appreciate what matters, to value ourselves more, to say no and to value ourselves. It was not something I expected from this project, but it has been so lovely to hear it repeatedly.
When talking about age and this project Shannon had this to say,
“I see ageing as something to be grateful for as unfortunately I have lost people too soon and I know they would have given anything to reach their 50s. So bring on the wrinkles and age spots!”
I asked Shannon why she wanted to get involved with the project and she told me that the whole idea of the project was completely out of her comfort zone. She loved the idea of something that focused on her as an entire person. Not her as a mother, worker, daughter, aunt but as a complete person. I thought that was wonderful and is what this project is all about.
The Your Face, Your Story Project is an inspiration project celebrating the lives of women over 40 and challenging the stereotypes of women and ageing.
