The LA fires have been ferocious – they are on every news channel, everybody’s social media feed, celebrities are posting and sharing their collective grief, fire-fighters are flying in from all over the world – humanity has come together, which is as it should be when something horrific happens.
So far, the death toll stands at 10 with countless homes and infrastructure destroyed.
The world is reeling in shock.
In the last few weeks 9 babies in Gaza have frozen to death with countless homes and infrastructure destroyed over the last 15 months. Nobody can count the dead anymore.
The world is silent.
Why is it that some lives matter more than others? That mere fact breaks my heart more than the LA fires. They will rebuild, they will recover, they have the whole world helping them.
Yet in Gaza? Perhaps they should all just die quietly. What else are they expected to believe?
Oday is my friend. At 21, he is the sole provider for his beloved family in Gaza and needs our help. Every day is a struggle for survival for his family. His dream is to help them evacuate as soon as border crossings are opened.
